About Deeper Roots
This semester, the Deeper Roots group will be examining the Lord of the Rings from a Christian perspective. Delving deep into literature and history, the Deeper Roots group maintains a more intellectual approach to the studies we utilize, and this semester will be no different!
You will need two books: a copy of Lord of the Rings (any version is fine), and The Battle for Middle-earth: Tolkien's Divine Design in the Lord of the Rings which can be found here, https://a.co/d/hd9j7n1
Week one will be an overall introduction and welcome so no preparation is necessary out of the gate. However, be prepared to read substantial sections of the the trilogy week by week! We also use a Discord server for additional discussions and links, which can be found here: https://discord.gg/ZgP3y5E7C4
The host location is on a farm north of Manchester. The road is still a work in progress, so 4x4's and carpooling is suggested in case of bad weather (we hope to have it improved before the winter!). If you have one or two kids who are younger who you can't leave at home, fear not! There is a dedicated kids room for them to play in with our two boys (aged 3 and 1). We will cap the group at approximately 20 people with a rotational snack schedule.
